  • Change of Leadership
    Dear Controllers,

Our Director - SINvACC, Lester Lee, will be stepping down from his position to move into VATSEA as Director of Conflict Resolution Management. This move will allow him to be more involved in the policy making in the South-East Asian region and will also free up his time to allow him to pursue his career as he moves on to the next phase of life and to more efficiently manage our partner airline, the Singapore Virtual Airlines Group.

The staff of SINvACC would like to thank Lester for leading SINvACC over the past three years. In this time, Lester has brought SINvACC from a small group of hobby-seeking controllers to a premier vACC in Asia. Under his leadership we have taken part in several international events including Worldflight and Eastern Winds. Lester has done a great many things during his time as Director, but the legacy he has left behind was being the bridge between Singapore and the rest of the world and giving our controllers a chance at the world stage. We would like to give Lester our heartfelt appreciation and wish him all the best as he develops his career.

Taking over the seat from Lester will be a familiar face, David Lee! David is no stranger, being one of the more active controllers and mentors in SINvACC and having helped to plan and execute many events. David has been working behind the scenes as a mentor for many months now taking a majority of our students. As our Director of Facilities Management, David has worked to create a new sector file for SINvACC and is pioneering the search for a more user-friendly vATC Client. Enthusiasm and cheerfulness are David's trademarks, and taking this into the role of Director will see interesting days for SINvACC ahead! We hope that during his time in leadership here, we will see more vibrancy and enthusiasm among our controllers!

    See you on the scopes!

  • Staff Changes
SINvACC is proud to welcome a new mentor into our ranks! David Lee is no stranger to us, having taken part in numerous events and actively servicing the aerodrome positions since he's been with us. He has just been promoted to Student 3 recently and is currently working on gaining his solo for WSSS_APP. We are proud to have him as our mentor!

In addition, Delwyn Tan has now been promoted to Director - Events. He has held the Deputy Director post since April 1st and organised events like The Singapore Frenzy and co-ordinated the Eastern Wind 2010. He is well-experienced and is fully ready to take on the heavier responsibility of Director - Events.

Jonathan Seet will thus relinquish his office as Director - Events and concentrate on his position as Deputy Director - Singapore vACC.

We hope to see more of you step up to take office in SINvACC! Congratulations to David and Delwyn.

    See you on the scopes!

  • Singapore vACC Supports Worldflight 2010

For the very first time in history, Worldflight, an international organisation with a group of participating simulators all around the world in support of charity organisations, will pass through Singapore Changi Airport as one of 27 destinations chosen for this event. The Singapore Virtual Area Control Centre is indeed very honoured to have the Worldflight visit our home airport, in what is known as a one-week round-the-world flight from 1st to 7th November 2010. Virtual pilots from all around the world make donations to Worldflight, so that they can get the rare opportunity to sit in the 737 or 747 simulators in Australia and UK, connected to VATSIM, to join many other virtual pilots online in this meaningful cause. Controllers likewise, make donations to provide ATC for this event, to control from special ATC stations set up for them alongside the Worldflight pilots in Australia. Proceeds of the donations will go to charity organisations such as the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Australia, which is a group of doctors who fly to rural areas to provide medical services with their fleet of helicopters at no cost.

On the 6th of November, Worldflight WF099 will depart from Bangkok's Don Muang Airport and arrive in Singapore at approximately 1630z. It will then depart from Singapore at 1730z for Denpasar Bali as WF100. A team of Singapore vACC controllers will be online to provide ATC services in support of this event. We are thoroughly excited to have this opportunity to host the Worldflight team for the first time, and will definitely do our best in rendering our assistance to make this event a success. All pilots who are lucky enough to read this announcement, please join in and support this event by following the Worldflight on their hops around the world.

The full Worldflight schedule can be found at: http://www.worldflight.com.au/booking/schedule10.php

Singapore vACC looks forward to a successful Worldflight 2010 together with all other supporting vACCs or ARTCCs around the world. Singapore vACC also congratulates the Worldflight Group on their 10th Anniversary, and wishes them all the best in the years ahead.

    Best Regards,
